What a horrible tragedy for this family.
Thank goodness their smoke alarms woke them up and they got out safe.

Two good things to learn from this:
1. Make sure your smoke alarms work and are placed where you can hear them.
2. SHOVEL OUT YOUR NEAREST FIRE HYDRANT.

That's one of the first things I did Saturday morning.
Later that day there was an ambulance call nearby,
and they used that cut out I made for the hydrant
to wheel the person out to the vehicle.

I feel terrible for this family. Thank goodness they are all safe. CopperPot had some really good ideas. I noticed on Wgal's site that they mentioned having you dryer vents cleared too. That was something that I wouldnt of thought of, but hubby did. They have a list on their site.

It's a short article but gives you a real sense of what firefighters do and the hardships they contend with. Thankfully the family got out safely.

The video starts out before the firetrucks even arrived.
This was the worst house fire I have been to in 34 years.
There was nothing to save.

It is a miracle the couple got out alive.

Smoke detectors save lives. Sprinklers out out fires. Both are important.

With this deep snow, piled high, make sure your address/street number is visible for
any rescue personnel to see.
