I made mention on this in an old thread...Once a pedophile ALWAYS a pedophile. Just because you are locked away does not change the fact that this person is a pedophile.
When I was first trained in Corrections we were lectured to by 2 pedophiles, who as part of their sentencing were required to go into therapy and give these lectures to incoming Correctional Officers. This was also part of our required State training to become a certified Correctional Officer.
One of these pedophiles,before lecturing, laid common magazines, newspaper advertisements etc. on our desks.
He then asked us to turn the item to a certain dog eared page, well marked and visibly used.
He then proceeded to tell us that, although normal to most people, the item pictured was indeed an item of porn for a pedophile.
THE ITEMS WERE COMMON EVERYDAY ADVERTISMENTS FOR YOUNG MEN AND GIRLS UNDERWEAR,SLEEP WEAR, ETC...The items marked had been passed around to all the other pedophiles in that prison population for their gratification.
Sounds Horrible and it is Horrible!
When that man gets out of prison all they do is learn to lay lower so that they won't get caught as fast.
Sounds harsh and unreasonable but I feel that ANYONE with a 3 strike type rule should have a big P stenciled on their forehead, but of course that is the radical end of punishment and could never happen, after all WE are a Civilized Society.
But then again, what he and they do is not civilized, IS IT?

The judge was way too lenient. A sex offender is never "cured". He will commit a crime again. Should have been much much more jail time.
Remember judges are elected.

I agree. I think this is why otherwise intelligent people risk it all by having kiddie porn on their work computers and engaging in other irrational behavior with regard to their fetish or whatever you want to call it. By saying pedophilia is a sickness doesn't excuse it--it merely means that the punishment for the criminal act is not going to "fix" the root of the pedophile's problem.

An oxymoron, of course!
