The warden won’t be throwing any parties in this county jail. He already has too many guests. And in this tough-on-crime era, many on probation come back. Alternatives are needed.

Some how I get a little confused... I know some of you will say thats nothing for you Electric.

No seriously, we build prisons for criminals to get 3 meals a day, a nights sleep, clothes and an occasional TV show or two.

But we have people living on the street... not knowing where their next meal is coming from.. not knowing where they'll sleep... and getting their clothes out of trashing recepticales.

Which person would you rather be... I think our system that states we cannot use cruel or unusual punishment is a little sku'd in favor of the crook. We are using cruel an unusual punishment against people that may live on the fringe... but aren't criminals by any means.

Some believe that chain gangs are the answer.. I believe that people that commit crimes should be subject to the very crime type they commit. You stealing from me... I want you to know how that feels. You hurt me I want you to think about it before you do it again.

Some say... the legal system won't allow theses punishments, I say its time for a change. If you steal... Tattoed on your forehead is spelled out,,, I'M A THIEF" .. Etc with reference to your crime.. NO PRISON TIME IS THE TRADE OFF.

Rapist... Castration...OR PRISON TIME

MURDERS... Minimum 25 years for the least amount of time no early releases.

Extreme Murder cases NO RELEASE...Eve

Prisoners also get medical and dental treatment inside the prison. Many times they deliberately commit crimes in order to get the care they need - with taxpayer money. I've heard that inmates have to purchase Tylenol and other niceties from the prison commissary.

"Many times"? Allowing that "many" could mean any amount, that sounds pretty farfetched to me, Kate. Can you cite any numbers to back it up?

Let`s give the prisoners to the puppy mill owners. They could replace the dogs with cons.I guess we would still have picketers saying how awful the conditions are for the poor prisoners.Do you think tourists would stop coming here in support of the prisoners like they did for the puppys?According to that one lady in the paper, tourists have stopped visiting our county because of the mills.Think she`s been on rt 30 east lately? Think the surrendered dogs were a smart Amishmans way to get rid of 40 sick animals?Sure saved him some time and money.Guess that`s another thread......

Do you think the animals were actually surrendered by a Lancaster County puppy mill owner? I have to admit, I am a little skeptical about this claim. However, you are right...that's another thread.
