Of course, you wouldn't set out for a day of shopping with a tired and hungry child, but not everything can be planned perfectly. For example, if you have to get some medicine for a sick kid on the way home from the doctor's office, you may have no choice but to stop at the pharmacy and take the child in with you. Obviously, someone with howling children and a cart full of stuff isn't in this situation, but stuff happens sometimes even to the parents who are trying really hard to do everything right.
THANK YOU, Nona for a nice, polite answer to a nice, polite question. Obviously, some other parents must have a chip on their shoulder...I simply wanted an answer to a simple question and I get "because I'm a horrible parent. Is that what you wanted to hear?". Of course not. I'm not five, and I wasn't insulting anyone. I just wondered why I see so many parents with a cartful of things for themselves dragging around obviously tired kids. I reaize that sometimes it's unavoidable, but I very often see things like that.
