Why couldn't something like this be done with the Watt & Shand Building? I think it would benefit alot more people than the Convention Center and Hotel. Also, if a private developer had been allowed to buy the Watt and Shand buildings, the project would be all done and rented by now. I believe the whole Convention Center/hotel project has been and will continue to be a tremendous waste of taxpayer money. What a shame! So much good could have come from all that money.

You think they're up in arms now? Image if someone would have proposed putting low income housing downtown. You can't put those people out for display, what would folks think? After all, those people need to stay out of sight so some people can continue to believe that their plight is solely a product of their upbringing.

I live across the street from Farnum Street Towers and Church Street Towers. On Feb. 14th, a group of homeschool children and families called Natural Learners are delivering 109 "goody bags" for the residents and delivering them. The bags were hand-decorated by the children and will be filled with personal hygiene items as well as candies and other useful things they can use.

There are many great opportunities for mutual learning in these types of housing communties.

Of particular interest to the city, Jackson noted, is that the property will remain on the tax rolls.
Now that is truly AMAZING. A property that would actually pay taxes.

What will their tax bill be? How long will it take to make up for the three grants or credits of $1.2M, $300,000 + $300,000? The rents are set by government. This place is hardly a model of free enterprise.
