You're probably right, however, as evidenced by other threads in TalkBack, the "bashing" of Christian tenets becomes a repugnant, personal attack on those who follow those tenets and not their thought process.

I dont see that i see the tenets being QUESTIONED, its the people who believe in them that take it personal and consider it a personal attack on them.

actually i think that when people stand up and say " hey eveyone, look at me i am a christian" then people have the right to ask them why they don't follow the teachings of the guy the religion is named after.

oh, let's see...oh yeah.."thou shalt not kill comes to mind.LOL

of course if you dare to question them you are labeled a "hater".LOL

Finding the tomb of Christ, finding he was married to Mary Magdelan, finding he had brothers and sisters, finding he had children would not topple the Christian Faith.

It would, however, topple the CATHOLIC faith. It would destroy the papacy, topple the vatican and finish destroying what is left of the Catholic Church after the sex scandals.

The early Catholics covered up evidence of many things they didn't want the world to know. They had to formulate alternative stories to account for undeniable facts. Perhaps it is just catching up with them and the REAL Chrisitanity can now be known by all instead of the Catholic version that was altered so drastically and has been altered time and again through the centuries.

The Christian faith is safe and will stand regardless of whether Christ ascended in full body or in spirit. The Catholic faith is dependent upon it as well as the perpetual virginity of Mary, the celibacy of Christ and Mary's ascension, body and soul as well.

This could be the end of the most tyrannical belief system in recorded history.

especially so because there never was an historical jesus but rather a personification of principals. we ended up worshipping the man as a cult of personality and disregarded the principlals when they are inconvenient.

Did anyone see the movie last night? It was followed by a "critical look" hosted by Ted Koppel featuring bibical and archelogical scholars. I found the movie to be intriging, but the critical look was disappointing. The bibical scholars in general just dismissed the whole idea of the film. There was no, well, let's take a closer look and the decide. It was more like this is what my religion has taught for thousands of years so this is what I believe. I think the filmaker, forget his name, did a good job of standing up for what he did and saying, this is what we found now lets let the scholars weigh in. I just hope they weigh in with an open mind. Would it really be a big deal if Jesus was married and did have a son? The one guy took issue with the idea that it may have been a spiritual resurrection and not a physical one. I don't know enough to say if that bothers me or not. I've begun to question what I was taught as a child as I've gotten older. But many people just swallow what they have been taught, what has been passed down from generation to generation and then say, no you can't make any theories other than the ones I believe. Anyway, I found the move to be thought provoking. What if ...
Any thoughts from those who did see the movie?
