Long’s Park is still the place where men, some married and well-to-do, go to meet other men for sex. Activity is down, but Internet helps advertise (and warn) the ‘cruisers.’

emitmieh: I know someone who once worked for an association of sales people. They were having trouble with someone, with an association key, going into homes for sale and stealing things. It was suspected that the person just might be a member of the association. The police had a description of the person and the car at three locations where the burglaries took place.

So, this guy I know decided to have a contest. In the association's newsletter, he starts a new contest, "Guess who owns this car and win a prize." The first month, he used the president of the association as the 'guess who this is." Someone called and won a prize.

The next month, he put a description of the car that was seen at three of the burglaries. Believe it or not, the OWNER of the car called to proudly claim the 'prize.'

The police interviewed him and ... drumroll... the thief was caught.

That's why, when I see a placement of this story above the fold, etc. etc. etc., it sets off my 'what if' alarm.

It's a legitimate question. There's a bunch of homophobia going on here, people who equate queer with perverse. Protect the children!

It's a deeply rooted fear. I can think of worse things than two adults having consensual sex.

(No, I don't advocate using public spaces for it.)

Anyone who worries that being in that park, alone, will make them "look like a homo" has a problem, and that problem is more troubling than being of any particular sexual orientation.

I disagree, what if you went to the park to chill and one of you neighbors or coworkers that you reconise but dont really know to well saw you there. This could put the rumor mill into motion and cause alot of pain and bad feelings. Why? because some sick omos want to get a sick thrill at the park!!

and what exactly is so offensive in being mistaken for a "homo"?

Well, maybe you wouldn`t mind being thought of as some one looking for same-sex gratifacation in a public restroom or car,in a public place, with a stranger but I wouldn`t like it much.I don`t care what anyones sexual preference is.That`s private, right?

Maybe I should have said "perverted homo" Or is it homo that bothers you? Isn`t it p.c..I thought homosexual was the correct term these days?

Homo-homosexual, what does it matter. Run them all out of the park. The perverts so who needs them.
