Nice article about a nice project, and fitting memorial to those who gave their lives in service as firefighters. I hope residents support the project financially so the rope enclosure and statue can be added in the near future.

I was at this ceremony. It was very nicely done. There was a LOT of volunteer work done by the firemen to make this happen. The bell is now out front of Fire Station #3 on E. King St. in a little stone plaza; all of the labor and materials were donated. The firemen even put on a luncheon for everyone who attended!

This is the same bell that Charlie Smithgall refused to allow out in public. A very big THANK YOU to mayor Rick Gray for helping good things to happen!
