Isn't there also some sort of archaic law that prohibits beer distributors to advertise special sales and doesn't allow them to post special sale signs, with prices, in their windows?

I'm sure there are certain areas of the county that would vote against privatization, but not the county as a whole

It would be interesting. I couldn't guess if it would pass or not but I would guess it would be a very tight vote. Depends if the hard core Republicans were against. Seems what the party leadership wants the majority of voters follow in this county.
hahaha
Boy am I late for class.
Hey, I got an idea, let the market decide. We in Lancaster have a tendency to resist change. We hate walmart. But I bet 90% of people will admit that in the last month they bought something there.
I hate it, you want to throw a party, Halloween, New Years, St. Patties, Cinco de Mayo, you have to make three stops at minimum, grocery store to buy everything you plan to eat, then off to the beer distributor and pick up a few cases or a keg, last, stop at the State store and buy wine, champaigne and/or mixed drinks.
So how about we catch up with 1950 and give people the opportunity to buy all that stuff at one place: Wal*Mart. (Sort of kidding, but seriously other states do it and it works just fine.)
If we don't like it, you'll see that there aren't any stores like that, my guess is they'll thrive.
Oh, tha PALCB can bite me. I don't have any problem paying taxes, but 25% on liquor is just rediculous.
Ditto to Rendell. I bought a carton of Camels for $26 yesterday in a different state. I won't say where. Compared to here: $44 ($18 in taxes!) Yeah, they're bad for me. So is McDonalds, welding, sun bathing and there's no tax on those to keep people from doing it. (ignoring sales tax).
How did I come up with that list? I look like this: without the hearts today, two days ago I think I was this color: Fell asleep on a chair in the sun.

Their not allowed to advertise sales but they can put signs outside their buildings.Prince Bev has a sign out there all the time with sale prices.
Hammer
The local (cough: overpriced) beer dist. in my area always advertises for 30-packs of which ever crappy beer happened to pay enough that month outside their business.
I drive about five miles further to pay much less at the place that's open later.
The only positive thing I can say about the overpriced place is they bring the case out to your car for you. You walk in, say "I want three cases of Top Dawg in the Mystery Machine, don't let Scooby out, put it on the front passenger's seat, not the back" and they will. For a few bucks less per case, I carry it out myself.
