A long overdue step in the right direction.

Of course, if the study comes back with a recommendation that the LCCCA and PSP don't agree with, they will claim it is inaccurate, doesn't apply to them, etc. If it agrees the current project is a good idea, they will embrace it.

However, if the result is somewhere in the middle, as I expect it will be, there will be a different kind of fireworks in downtown Lancaster.

Daniel Burke is confused. First of all, it is Robert E. Field who is contributing to the feasibility study. Second, the phases referred to do not apply to the PKF proposal. The first part of the PKF study will entail Market Analysis and Facilities Recommendations, and a Financial Analysis. This is expected to take 8 to 10 weeks.

That it takes a private citizen to ensure that this massive, publicly funded project is thoroughly examined before taxpayer dollars are used is a sad commentary on the convention center authority and PSP. But at least now the citizens of Lancaster County will be able to see if this particular project is feasible. This is what we want.

We just need to agree with the assumption that 150,000 to 200,000 downtown visitors and a new 300-room Marriott would be a good thing for Lancaster and don't waste anyone's time focusing on voodoo economics. Just focus on what can reasonably be estimated.
I agree with most of your post, and I agree on the need to focus on what can be reasonably estimated. One of the things a real study must concentrate on is the actual number of day and overnight visitors these facilities would attract. If you've read the original PricewaterhouseCoopers study, it is obvious that there are no good reasons for them to have concluded 150,000 to 300,000 will be the actual number of visitors.

I can live with a return on investment of anything greater than 1.0, as long as ALL public and private funds from all sources are factored into the equations.

MORE TAX MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN...DIDN'T THEY LEARN A LESSON WITH THE LAST FIRM THAT TOLD THEM TO SEE CONESTOGA VIEW...MAYBE IT IS TIME TO THROW THESE COMMISSIONERS OUT BEFORE THEY SELL THE COUNTY TO A FOREIGN GOVERMENT

Do you really think Hixon will cooperate with a negative outcome? He's got to be worrying about job security.
