I am extremely concerned whenever numerous prejudicial reports are widely circulated to the general public. These people will NEVER get a fair trial. Even if they were to be exonerated in a court of law, this media blitz guarantees that their personal lives are now effectively destroyed forever.
I have NO idea if these people did what they are being accused of or not. That is not the issue which bothers me the most. But it is painfully obvious that the public is being sold on the idea that they are guilty, long before they have had a chance to try to prove themselves innocent. And they are very likely to go worse than bankrupt trying to do so.
For every single person that reads this: how would YOU feel if accusations against YOU were widely published, broadcast, and debated in public forums? Whether YOU are guilty or not, you will always be branded by these accusations.
I'm not saying that this shouldn't be reported. What I AM saying is that it shouldn't be sensationalized the way it has been.
Well stated, Artie.
If these people are found guilty they deserve rightful punishment and the shame that accompanies it. What is equally shameful, if not more so, is the publics rush to condemn, convict and punish them based solely on reports in a newspaper.
Sensationalism sells, no matter if it's accurate or not. Sadly, that's the bottom line.

Apparently someone at MH/MR failed to do their job. Maybe they should bear some of the blame for this tragedy as well.
