Only "Encouraged"?!? With the seriousness of hazing as a criminal act (a felony in many US states and other countries) I would think a coach or university official would DEMAND players act, not just "responsibly", but simply as decent human beings!
I purposely went to a college that had NO greek life and NO athletic program to avoid this dangerous and harmful idiocy. We were far from being prudish, but there was NO Pressure to do anything one didn't feel like doing.
