The only complaint i have about comcast is their lack of HD channels which I have been told is coming by 2009. When I looked into direct tv and when I say looked I mean talking to actual customers and going to watch their tv with them I found that in bad weather Direct tv is very iffy. Also Direct tv does not offer IN DEMAND which is priceless to us as we can not always be in front of the tv at certain times for movies and series. We have already missed a CSI episode but caught it later on IN DEMAND. I have to say customer service is awesome. They comeout quickly and even bring me a new box saving me the trip to the cable company. I believe direct tv charges for problems. To me comcast offers the best channels for what I want. Now of course I don't watch them all every day but when you are looking for something there is usually something to watch. If you think of the technology it takes to have DVR and rewinding of live tv you would understand the cost. At least we have quality channels and service that is reliable.

Therein lies the issue. You're happy with their service, offerings, etc., I personally am not. Their customer service reps can't answer my internet service questions ... I could go on, but I won't. I don't feel like I have a choice. I can go to Direct TV, but it's not a comparable alternative.I may only have time once a day to sit down and watch whatever it is I want to watch. If the weather is inclement, I'm out of luck. DSL service is not (in my opinion) comparable to cable internet service, either. There is no other cable company I can choose for cable TV or internet service. You can pay for the dvr, HD, etc., I'm not interested in subsidizing others TV entertainment needs. I don't watch TV or on demand much, I don't have an HD TV, nor do I feel the need to own one. The free on demand we have is quite sufficient, and I'm not even in need of that. I feel like their rate hikes and services are shoved down my throat. Yes, I could give it all up, but a middle-of-the-road solution would be much more enjoyable.

I also agree and am angry over this rate hike. $55 is too much to pay for the handful of channels that I watch, and nothing but infomercials from midnight til 6:30 a.m.

Perhaps if they didn't advertise so much, they wouldn't need more money. I'm paying for those myriad Comcast commercials I have to be exposed to, on top of the tons of other commercials.

What ever happened to not having monopolies? Like others, I stay because I don't have a choice. They have us by the short hairs. That isn't fair.

It's "On Demand".

Let me scrap a few dozen channels, let's see, how much bandwidth does:
QVC, Home Shopping Network, Real Estate Network, ShopNBC, Channel 74/Channel 78 (no network name, you could lease it if you had the cash on hand for a few months) and ION? Channel 78 isn't listed on their
I don't watch it, it's annoying to have to flip through them, so much, I tell my TV to forget those channels. What? Did I read what I wrote correctly? Oh, yes, somebody's paying Comcast to pump this crap to me! Six channels on expanded basic (out of 78 - 4 channels that are old PPV or 'test channels' - channel 1 = 73) that is paying Comcast! That's just under 10%.
While I'm at it, BET, the Sleep Channel (GOLF), Lifetime, Travel, E!, MTV, Univision and Headline News can go. Look there Comcast, 20% of your offerings, I don't even want! Not something I might occasionally want, this is stuff I have no interest in. I can't understand spoken spanish unless it's at a "slowski's" pace, I can barely read it. I have more than enough sports channels I don't watch right now, golf is just slightly more interesting to watch than the green it's played on, shopping channels are lame.
I'd block more of the channels, but you buggers keep changing the lineup.

Thank God for YouTube. There's lots of stupid, idiot and moronic stuff on there. But I can switch to any of a thousand other channels and find something, but I don't have to flip through 999 to find out what's on.
