So Merch are you going to collect Social Security then?

Well seeing that I am pre-gen x, post baby boom, but still remember the Space Shuttle Challenger and Reagan getting shot; I am not too hopefull that Social Security will be available for me!

Learned some time ago, I and only I am responsible for my actions. I am just glad to know I have time to make the changes to take care of myself when the time arrises.

I'm pretty sure if you were pre gen x i'm sure you'll be ok. But who the hell knows anymore. We could have taken that 17 trillion or whatever it is from Iraq and put it towards fixing stuff here. Yeah thats alot of whats missing in this country, personal responsibilty. But there comess a point too where you have to look out for your fellow man.

And here I am left defending the cop who molested kids.
Ron, I understand your point, and to an extent I agree. The fact that he was charged and aquitted should not be held against him.
However, being accused of what he's been accused of in three different departments, and only one (not counting the current case) led to an investigation, that's disturbing.
The superior who stated he needed proof to start an investigation should be held as an accomplice after the fact.
We need accountability in the law enforcement, and the only time I ever see it, is when the cop is caught on tape violating his sworn duty to such an extent as the department is likely to be sued or somebody dies as a result, provided the tape makes it to the public for viewing.
Why do we have security cameras everywhere? Could it be because the criminal element is so brazen due to their chances of getting away are ever increasing? (Or at least that's the perception of the people installing the cameras)
Why did this guy coerce these young girls to perform these acts? (aside from the fact that he's a pedophile/ebophile) Because he thought he could get away with it.

Agreed that the supervision should be increased in general on police. An INDEPENDENT body needs to check it.

I don't know this situation. BUT ... I am very involved in restorative justice and have dealt with molesters and general perverts. They have often have a great loathing for themselves and deservedly so. They often do things so that they DO get caught. The want to stop but can't stop on their own.

As a father of 5, I have a great love for children and struggle with commands to love these people. I just saying....

True, he needs his butt kicked or worse, but what amazes me is how the girls went along with him, at 16 they got enough sense to say no.

Yeah, but from what I read it seems that he used the power of his position as a police officer to get to these girls. Having been a sixteen year old not too long ago myself, I can easily understand how they were preyed upon by this predator. Ooops, I forgot. He's not guilty until proven guilty. But the evidence reported in this paper seem pretty convincing. (I wonder if he'll be able to get a fair trial here?)
