At a ceremony Tuesday afternoon, Gray, the Lancaster City mayor, will pledge the city to working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Does that mean Rick Gray will give fewer and shorter speeches?
If this is going to work, he's going to need to get City Council to go along with it. Things are bad enough with Jose Urdaneta spouting off at length about any topic at all, primarily because he likes to hear himself talk. Now that Joe Morales will be on City Council, there will be TWO OF THEM !!!!!!!

Some cities, according to the Web site of the sponsoring Sierra Club, have taken steps such as replacing traffic signals with electricity-saving light emitting diode bulbs, or LEDs.

Lancaster is now in the process of replacing its traffic signals and cross-walk lights with LEDs.
The trouble with LEDs is that they don't produce enough heat to melt snow and ice off in the winter.

Are you certain? I've worked with some LED arrays that can get quite warm.

No, it means he'll get to talk more as this move is guaranteed to attract media attention. I'm so sick of the grandstanding on this issue and the presidential race hasn't even heated up yet.

Boston, Mass had used them and found that they wouldn't melt the snow and ice. I would guess it would depend on how big an array is used.
