Why are my tax dollars paying for this? I support the idea, but why is the state handing out money? We have a property tax problem in this state because Harrisburg can't support public education like it should. They are too busy handing out money for programs like this. Bridges and roads in this state are in bad need of repair while a university gets a quarter million.
The State of Pennsylvania is putting well over
$35 million taxpayer dollars into a $70 million "private" hotel being built on Penn Square. In comparison, the State is only putting
$15 million taxpayer dollars into the $105 million "public" convention center.
Nearly half a million dollars is pocket change for State legislators like Sen. Gib Armstrong and Rep. Mike Sturla, who worked together to repeatedly rewrite State law in order to to give out well over $50 million taxpayer dollars for one single gigantic project.
Of course, none of this includes the nearly $65 million in taxpayer dollars PLUS interest for 40 years PLUS millions of taxpayer dollars in operational losses every year, all being collected by the government of Lancaster County.
