Please keep in mind that there is always a price for freedom. It doesn't just "happen". If we brought all of our troops "home" from all around the world it would definitely weaken the U.S. Internationally. There has to be a certain level of strategic planning that gives us the freedom that we so enjoy.
Do we teach the other countries how to fish? Or do we keep on giving them the fish?
I am a firm believer that the radical Islamic threat to American is real must be fought. So does Ron Paul. American leaders must be smart and efficient in how we do it, or we will destroy freedom in America from the inside out. Dr. Paul is the only Republican presidential candidate questioning the status quo and the inevitable march towards socialism.
The need and huge cost of America's worldwide military presence is ready for debate .... in accordance with the will of the American people and their congressional representatives. The peoples' work needs to be done within the halls of congress in accordance with our Constitution. Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate willing to force this philosophical subject into the light of day.
I personally feel if the press and the majority of the American people do not back our troops it's time to bring them home. War must be a national effort. It is impossible to fight a politically correct war against an enemy who plays the international media and worldwide public opinion like a Stradavarius violin. Our guys and gals are targets more often than warriors. Fight to win .... or bring them home.
We can't even properly protect our own borders. Let the citizens of Iraq and Afganistan learn how to catch their own fish. Plus the citizens of Kosovo, South Korea, Germany, Japan and the other 30 nations or so where we maintain a military presence.
I agree with you, we should fix our own problems first before we try to fix the world.
