I've not followed the conversation, just saw the title.

Commenting only on the title, I can't imagine that beer would taste very good with pot pie at all!!!

Milk maybe, or even a coke (or whatever soda), but I just can't imagine drinking beer with it. eeeeeeeeewwwwwweeeee

I was thinking of ya'll last night....

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but every now and then I'll have a couple of generally decent beers (not Miller or things often found in the local bar 6-pack cooler).

Last night I called a local bar that has Newcastle on tap and asked if they had 6-packs of it for sale. Nope. So I went to the distributor....$36 for a case. That may not be a bad price, I don't know...but I just couldn't buy it, because....

I really just want SIX freakin' beers!!!

I don't want a darn case. I didn't feel like going "out" etc, etc. And I don't want to drive to a different part of the county to a six-pack store to get this not-so-weird brand! It is pretty darn frustrating if you've lived elsewhere. And a lot of times we just want to try something new, but you don't want to buy a whole case and hate the stuff. Agh!

Just wondering. Is PA the only state that has state owned liquor/beer stores/distributors? I know every other state I've been to has 6 packs in every grocerystore, 7-11 and walmart. Is this just another of the backward things we do here or are there other states that are as backward as we are? We make the deep south, backwoods, rural, one horse towns look like the cutting edge of technological and civil advances.

besides the fact that beer distributors are privately owned, you don't have to travel too far away from PA to prove your statement slightly false. Ever been to New Jersey? You won't find too much beer in your local grocer, or at least i didn't the last time i was there, i had to head to the nearest packy (where they did sell beer, liquor and wine, in all quantities). Generally, beer is not sold in grocery stores in maryland either.

i found this website quite interesting from our neighbors to the south, you may want to check it out because it is right on topic for this type of discussion

here is an article about NJ's "archaic" liquor laws regarding grocery store sales.
http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/top_thr...p-7421411c.html

like i said, i agree that the laws in PA are themselves archaic, but the popular notion that PA is the only state with backwards laws and every other state does it better is false. not saying that it justifies PA's backwards laws. Although everyone else uses their false asumptions to justify change. what should justify change is the simple fact that it could be done better.
