QUOTE(Lancaster Online @ Jan 23 2008, 01:32 AM)
Leaving the convention without an endorsement in hand, Smucker accused Thibault supporters of manipulating votes to get the open primary they were hoping for.

"I, in fact, was willing to support an endorsed candidate," Smucker said. "But this vote was manipulated from round one. There was a block of votes controlled by Thibault that went back and forth all night."
The politically powerful and social elite of Lancaster REALLY NEED a State Senator who will continue to "bring home the bacon" for their special-interest projects, just like Gib Armstrong has for so many years. Thibault has a proven history of doing so; during Thibault's terms as County Commissioner, Lancaster County government spending more than doubled, and debt nearly tripled.

Thibault's supporters could not permit an endorsement to happen. So, they made certain that it did not. Now, with an "open" primary, then can begin the arm-twisting that will be required to make certain Thibault wins the primary.

Is Thibault involved with Lancaster County ACTION?

Kate it is nice to see you have changed your position on the rights of the "voters" rather then the privledge of the GOP.

"Insulting committee people is not a route to go if you want any voter support."

Let's see - you (Bill Neff) only received two votes from the committee people.

Let's see how you fare with the voters...................

It's good to see that the party came to right decision. It is a shame that it was a fall-back position that they only arrived at after failing to agree among themselves in whose favor to rig it.

No, no you got it all wrong!

It was a fall back position only after failing to demonstrate fortitude to go the distance after the reality message from those accused of being "out of touch" by committee memberss, turned out to be on point.

Who is out of touch now!

"Naturally, I'm disappointed we weren't able to come up with an endorsement," Sahd said, "but you can't expect our good committee people to stay all hours of the night to get there."

But on the bright side it has demonstrated that the "PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN" not the party yahoos who ask for apologies when they are "out of touch"

Sorry kate I am not running so I am not sure why you would say....

"Let's see how you fare with the voters"

You seem a bit miffed.

Hey 2 votes may not be much for this guy, but it is 2 more then what he had after you attacked him for being honest and demanded an apology from him for trying to point out the truth to your committee.

2 becomes 4 and so on and so forth. You don't seem so aggressive now that his concerns have been proven to be the voice of more then he.

Sour Grapes?

I am tired, as a Lancaster County Republican, of having no voice in the primaries. The last Governor's race was the epitome. Lynn Swann as our only choice? It's bad enough that the presidential primary is practically decided before Pennsylvania has a say, but to have our own local elections stacked is ridiculous.

For years the only thing keeping me from switching to Libertarian was being able to vote in the Republican primary. But if all choice is kept from me there too, why bother?

The Lancaster GOP had nothing to do with Swann's endorsement...
