Maybe that's why they're selling. A pool can be a real drawback when it comes to selling unless someone specifically wants one. They're a pain in the arse and very expensive to maintain.

........plus the taxes, utilities and insurance that continue whether you live there or not. Scary.

When I sold my house for condo living, I did it the easy way. Someone called and asked me if I was interested in selling (I was thinking about it) because he was looking for a house near his parents. He looked at it the next day, I told him what I wanted and the following day, he showed up with a contract at my price and terms. Bingo, bango, no middle man.

Who and the heck needs a 3000 sq.ft. house? There is no way the common working man could ever pay for a home like that, $400.000 for a house is outright crazy. This is why so many homes are going in to foreclosure, people are living well over their means!

That is a different discussion entirely. Take a person that makes half a million dollars a year. A 3000 sq ft house for 400k is well within that person's means.

Oh yeah, but how many of them do we really have living in Lancaster County? All you have to do is look at the housing market here to see it is way over priced for the main population of the county. The average income around here is about $35,000 a year, a far cry from $500,000!

I agree. But, to simply state that no one needs a 3000 sq ft house for 400k, is silly. The fact that people were caught up into buying more house than they could afford is why prices are coming down now. Those people are going to get screwed. People should by houses they can afford, regardless of the price and square footage. I'm not sure why you chose to zero in on a specific price and square footage.
