Bandmom. I did not spell check. But, I made a valid point and the misspelled word [Pedestal ] is no reason to "dis" my writing. I was not expecting anything of the kids.....just the offender. I was a child advocate for many years. I am pro-kid. Having said that....one of the Columbia newbies who wrote on here, called us "outsiders". I realize that person was saying we were "outsiders from those of you in Columbia School District". On here, however, the posters who were in open discussion are not "outsiders". We are the regulars. We know that a lot of the anger comes out on here so perhaps we perform a service. I do feel better knowing a band mom has a rational stance on the big picture. I worked many years with somone who was charged with a similar offense, so I understand the disbelief that a person can do such a thing and the good a person did for many years. I understand it from the point of view of a co-worker/peer. Then I had to help the kids work out their feelings and get back to the task of being students for their own sake.

Mr Richards is the immoral lawbreaker. It is your choice whether or not to support him. Be a friend. Just be judicious in how you choose to emulate his behavior.
