I've never eaten at Carr's. But I have had several interesting discussions with its owner.

Tim Carr has an unpleasantly elitist attitude, which I find offensive. He has worked hard to ingratiate himself with those who are politically and socially powerful in Lancaster.

It's not always a bad thing to have them on your side, is it Artie?

There is a difference between making nice and kissing azz though.....

I never met him but the restaurant is fantastic......

Artie, I hope you understand that in order to have a restaurant on the level of Carr's remain an ongoing success in Lancaster, what you describe is a necessary, if unfortunate, part of the owner's job description.

It may be a contrast with, say, Dean at the Belvedere, who is down to earth and a friend to all, but ask him how many times Charlie Smithgall came in with an entourage, ate for big $$$ and then just left without paying. Then ask him if he ever said a word about it or gave any less warm & hearty welcome the next time, and the next and the next.

Cost of doing business around these parts. Granted, your Mr. Carr seems to take more pleasure in it, based on your appraisal, but he'd be doing it either way if he wants to be part of the "in thing".

I'm sorry Artie but I have to disagree with your comments. I've interacted with Tim Carr many times and found him to be pleasant and always smiling.

Last year when I needed help with a fundraiser he offered a dish from his restaurant for my fundraiser. Tim is a Democrat and I'm a Republican, my party affiliation did not matter.

I enjoy purchasing items from Carr's stand at market. Their one person meals are wonderful. Tim and his staff are always courteous and helpful.
