Schwab, who was not at Wednesday's meeting, says because the homes are permanently attached to foundations,.....

They're on foundations. My son builds custom home in the $400K and up range and wouldn't recommend them either. However, for people of limited means, they're affordable housing and certainly a step up from a trailer park.

Bottom line is they put these homes on someone else's property and now the owner of the property wants to sell HIS property. So what? Many places like these have contracts the owners of the land sign stating they won't sell the land without the owner's option to buy. It's called thinking ahead.

It would be nice if they could get a loan for the whole lot and then divvy up the payments between all the people who live there, along with the water, sewer and what knots.

I hope that it all works out for the people involved, I'm sure Vista care got something out of the people who live in the houses when they moved in. So I'd be looking to get some of that money back!
They need a good pro bono Attorney working for them.

Based on some of the comments, I can see that all the facts are not out in the open. Granted, the homeowners knew that the land was not theirs when they purchased their homes. Please note, the key words are "the homeowners purchased their homes", not Vista Care. Vista Care's lawyer has NOT yet offered to buy the homes, but to TAKE the homes from the homeowners. Instead, the lawyer said he will go to court to have the homes declared property of Vista Care.
Having a family member directly involved with this gives me the benefit of knowing more of the facts.
How many people would stand by and allow their homes to be taken after they have purchased them without a fight? From some of the comments, I guess some would.
I agree the residents need to find a probono lawyer to fight for them.

Wow. You are usually more generous than this. Who do you think has been paying the real estate taxes on "his" property?

Thinking ahead, eh? I would think anyone setting up such a neighborhood on their property has some notion of the longevity of such a commitment. And anyone moving there would make a similar assumption.
Calling it a trailer park was not a swipe on my part, trust me.

Sad that some form of legal representation will be required to iron this out.
