Jeffrey Gingrich, who served on the school board from 1993 to 2005, questioned the school board last week about the legitimacy of the enrollment numbers serving as justification for such a project.

Former board member Willis Spangler told the board last week that expecting residents to bear such large tax increases is too much in today's economy.

When we these two face the facts? They are the reason our schools are where they are today. Sure we have the second lowest spending in the county per pupil, but at what cost. Our PSSA scores are third from the bottom and our dropout rate is third highest in the county.
Their refusal to raise taxes and spend even enough to maintain our infrastructure is proof that education has never been a priority to them. For years they patted themselves on the back proclaiming that they saved the men and women of Donegal countless tax dollars. All the while the education in Donegal has fallen further behind our neighbors. Remember folks, our community is a reflection of our schools. Don't forget the 19% property tax increase. It was due to their poor management of our finances in previous years. Ya can't keep dipping into the fund balance and use non-conservative budgeting forever. The 2006 Board took the blame for it, but they were just playing catch up to fix Spanglers and Gingriches screwups.
We finally have a School Board with the guts to do what is right for our school and community and Mr. Spangler and Gingrich go around spreading hate and discontent. Don't be fooled. All they want are headlines. Donegal will become what it was always meant to be even in spite of these two. Go Donegal.
