ok, did a quick check - 1st thing I saw was 12 cents an ounce which comes out to $1.92 a pound

But if EVERYONE starts stealing it, won't that drive the scrap price down? Silly criminals. Maybe some really ought to start pilfering cooked ham.

I think copper's price today on the LME closed at $3.6786/lb, or roughly $8,110/metric ton [2,205 lbs].
The price 5 years ago was less than a dollar a pound, but has been rising steadily. Big business for thieves who have outgrown the aluminum bleachers business.
