Two people were hurt when a frisky cow ran into a pickup truck Monday night on South Vintage Road in Paradise Township, Lancaster state police said.

Ivan R. Fisher, 26, of Ronks, was driving the truck north at about 9:30 when a cow ran out from an embankment onto the right side of the road, Trooper Donna M. Harrison said.

The car struck the back window of the truck, causing glass to shatter. Fisher had minor injuries from the flying glass, but he managed to pull the truck off the roadway, the trooper said.

A 2½-year old boy who was a passenger in the truck also had minor injuries. Police said the child was not properly secured in any kind of child-safety seat, and Fisher will be cited for a child-safety-seat violation.

Earlier Monday, two people were hurt when a car crashed in the 2500 block of Ironville Pike in West Hempfield Township.

Aaron Lynn Rapp, 19, Columbia, was driving west at about 4:10 p.m., but he took his eyes off the road to adjust radio controls, police said.

Rapp's 2008 Toyota Scion traveled off the road, struck a roadside fence and bushes, and sustained severe damage, Officer John Schwab said.

Rapp and a passenger were treated for minor injuries at Lancaster General Hospital. Rapp was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.
