Now if only we had more than one or two decent trout streams. Of course, the Conestoga is pretty good for smallmouth bass (my son and I have caught quite a few in that river), but the majority of fly-fishermen target trout.
The majority of streams and rivers in this county are too warm to give trout a comfortable home. Trout like cold, clean water, with a rocky bottom, preferably with a decent current, but some eddies within which to rest. There are only a few streams like this in the county due mostly to run-off from farms and livestock muddying the waters. Nothing against the farmers, it's just a fact that these factors make a stream inhospitable to trout.
