Lancaster city police arrested a 30-year-old Manheim man and charged him with the robbery of the Turkey Hill store at 870 Manor St.

Police reported that at approximately 11:02 p.m. Friday, Michael Lehman used a golf club as a weapon and took $60-$65 in cash and a 20-ounce bottle of ginger ale. He fled in a car, but was stopped and arrested at West Lemon and Nevin streets.

According to the city police report, he was taken to Manheim Township police department for an interview.

No other details were available late Saturday night.

BOMB THREAT:
A bomb threat caused the evacuation of the Manheim Township Wal-Mart store Friday morning.

Township police reported that county dispatchers received a 911 call at 10:34 a.m. indicating there was a bomb inside the store at 2030 Fruitville Pike. The store was evacuated by police and store employees and portions of the parking lot were blocked off.

With the aid of a bomb-sniffing dog, the store was searched, but nothing was found. The store reopened 12:30 p.m.

ACCIDENTS:
A 17-year-old Narvon driver failed to stop for a red light Friday and struck a vehicle driven by Carl Griffin, 61, of New Holland, at East Main Street and Tower Road, New Holland police reported.

The crash happened at 11:56 a.m. Both drivers were taken to Lancaster General Hospital.

•A Reading man was injured in a crash Friday on Panorama Drive at Lauschtown Road, Brecknock Township.

State Police at Ephrata said the crash happened about 5:30 p.m. when a vehicle driven by Howard Derr, 78, pulled into the intersection and struck a vehicle driven by Aleksandr Dariychuk, 48, Denver.

Derr hurt his left forearm, police said. He will be cited with a stop sign violation.

•A two-vehicle crash Tuesday on Route 72 at Rife Run Road in Rapho Township led to one driver being cited by State Police at Ephrata.

Police said a car driven by Kasey Seon-Yeong Taylor, 33, of Manheim, was northbound on Route 72 and stopped to turn left on Rife Run Road. A truck hauling a trailer of sport-utility vehicles, driven by Alexei Gniteev, 25, of North Muskegon, Mich., failed to come to a stop behind the Taylor vehicle, attempted to swerve around it and hit it in the right rear, police said. The truck also struck a utility pole, police said.

Gniteev was cited for a speeding violation, police said.

PUBLIC DRUNK:
Lancaster City Police arrested Richard O. Jackson, 45, first block of West Farnum Street, at 8:16 p.m. Friday at Ad Lib Cafe, 51 N. Market St. Jackson fell down when he was asked to leave by the manager and could not walk. Jackson was cited by Officer Josiah King before Magisterial District Judge Bruce Roth.

THEFT:
State Police at Ephrata are investigating the theft of a tractor from an abandoned chicken house at Cold Springs and West Elizabeth roads in Rapho Township.

Police said the theft of the John Deere tractor happened between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 1 p.m. Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 721-7667.

•Lancaster Police are investigating the theft of a PlayStation 3 from a home in the first block of Green Street. The victims left their residence around 10 p.m. Friday and upon returning, discovered the item missing.

ATTEMPTED THEFT:
A resident of the 400 block of Belair Drive reported to Manheim Township police at 4:10 a.m. Friday that he saw somebody inside his vehicle using a flashlight. The resident ran outside and two people fled in a waiting vehicle.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:
Graffiti was spray-painted on two storage units at Keep Safe Storage, 415 Granite Run Drive, sometime overnight Wednesday or Thursday, Manheim Township police reported.

•A vehicle parked overnight Friday at Shooter's Crossing, 88 Diller Ave., was damaged and the bar building was also vandalized, New Holland police said.

The 2007 Lincoln Navigator sustained scratches and a cut tire, police said, and the license plate, Pennsylvania registration GHX8610, was taken.

Two windows and a neon sign at the bar were smashed sometime after 2 a.m., police said.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call police at 354-4647.

•Two tires on a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the 200 block of Evans Road, Elizabeth Township, were slashed between 10 p.m. Friday and 7:45 a.m. Saturday, State Police at Ephrata said.

COMBUSTION:
City firefighters were called to the Moose Lodge, 132 N. Water St., Saturday morning in what turned out to be a possible incident of spontaneous combustion.

Firefighters were dispatched at 11:07 a.m., said Lt. Charles Huber of the Lancaster department, after people opening up the lodge smelled an odor. "There was a haze of smoke and a nasty smell that made your eyes water," Huber said.

With the help of the department's thermo-imaging camera, the source of the odor was traced to a plastic trash can holding terrycloth linens which had been washed and dried earlier in the week and were still apparently warm, causing a reaction in the can.

"It never broke out into open flame," Huber said, adding firefighters searched the can for anything like cigarette butts that would have caused a fire. Nothing was found.

DOMESTIC:
New Holland police arrested Lavern H. Millisock, 46, address unknown, at 1:45 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of West Main Street.

Police said Millisock punched a woman in the face with his fist, causing lacerations and bruising, during a domestic dispute. Millisock was arraigned  and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail, police said.

•Two people were charged with harassment following a domestic dispute at about 10:44 p.m. Friday in the first block of Foal Court.

East Lampeter Township police said Michael Faber, 37, Middletown, and Tiffany Plank, 21, of the 400 block of Donner Drive, got into an argument and started shoving and striking each other.

Both suffered minor injuries, police said.

DRUG CHARGE:
Jerome Glover Jr., 21, of Philadelphia, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana after officers stopped him for speeding on Route 222 South near Route 322 at 10:43 a.m. Thursday, police said.

•Curtis Murphy, 24, 500 block of Chester Street, was arrested around 4:36 p.m. Friday in a 1993 Pontiac after a vehicle pursuit. Murphy and an another person fled on foot before Murphy was caught by Lancaster police and charged with possession of marijuana and crack cocaine.

DUI:
Manheim Township police reported that Jamie L. Smucker, 30, of Foal Court, was arrested for driving under the influence early Friday morning after a one-vehicle crash on Route 30 East near the Route 23 overpass.

Police said Smucker was eastbound on Route 30 when his vehicle left the roadway, headed down an embankment and rolled onto its roof. Smucker, who was not taken to a hospital, was arrested for DUI and later released pending a summons. The crash happened at 2:20 a.m.

•State Police at Lancaster reported that Shawn Patrick Riley, 23, of Lancaster, was traveling north on Route 222, north of Solanco Road, East Drumore Township, when he attempted to navigate a right curve while driving too fast for conditions early Saturday.

Police said Riley's vehicle went out of control, entered the southbound lane, crossed both lanes of travel and left the roadway.

The car continued about 45 feet over an embankment and overturned in the northbound lane. The vehicle then slid on its roof about 75 feet before stopping in the southbound lane.

The crash happened at 2:50 a.m., police said. Riley was treated at the scene by Susquehanna Valley EMS Medic 779 and taken to Lancaster General hospital for minor injuries. Fire units from Quarryville also responded.

Charges are pending against Riley for driving under the influence and other traffic offenses, police said.

•Maria A. Yeager, 43, of Ephrata, was driving south on South State Street when she attempted to make a left turn onto East Fulton Street and her vehicle struck an unidentified 51-year-old man on a bicycle who was traveling north on South State Street, Ephrata police reported. The incident happened at 10:54 p.m. Friday.

Yeager was taken into custody, police said; charges are pending. The man was transported to a hospital for a moderate leg injury.

•Ron Wilson, 37, of Lancaster, was stopped on his motorcycle on Route 30 at Hoover Road, Salisbury Township, at 1:45 a.m. Saturday for traffic violations and arrested for driving under the influence, State Police at Lancaster reported.

INDECENT EXPOSURE:
State Police at Lancaster investigated an indecent exposure and criminal trespass incident which happened at 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Drytown Road, Martic Township.

Police said William G. Cooper, 40, of Holtwood, entered his neighbor's property and committed a lewd act. Charges will be filed, police said.

RETAIL THEFT:
Mary E. Bostic, 25, of the 200 block of East King Street, was arrested for retail theft by Manheim Township police at Walgreens, 1262 Lititz Pike, after an employee saw her leave without paying for $152 in merchandise, police said. The incident happened at 5 a.m. Thursday.

THREATS:
New Holland police accused Robert L. Ford II, 34, of the 600 block of Limestone Road, Parkesburg, with making terroristic threats in charges filed Friday.

Police said Ford contacted his ex-girlfriend, who lives on Prospect Street, New Holland, on May 27 and made threats to harm her.

WARRANTS:
Manheim Township police reported that Melissa A. Clayton, 39, of the 600 block of Wyncroft Lane, was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant at 12:45 a.m. Friday after a traffic stop on Main Street in East Petersburg.

•New Holland police arrested Rudolpho T. Jasso, 27, of the 500 block of East Main Street, Ephrata, in the 400 block of Martindale Road, Earl Township, Wednesday on an outstanding violation of parole warrant from Oakland, Calif.

•Francisco Rodriguez Jr., 22, of Union Avenue, New Holland, was arrested at 1 p.m. Friday at North Roberts Avenue and East Main Street on an outstanding bench warrant, police said.

•Miguel A. Rosello, 23, 400 block of West Orange Street, was stopped by Lancaster police at 12:29 a.m. Saturday for a disturbance and arrested when police found Rosello to have an outstanding warrant.

It was probably a 6 or 9 iron. I think what happend then was as he was making his demands to the cashier, he forgot which club he actually had (since one looks like th other when you flip it). This caused him to become terribly confused and that's why he only took a 20 oz bottle of ginger ale plus the cash from the register.

My suggestion would have been to hire a caddy. Then he would not confuse the clubs and have a wide variety to choose from!
