The treatment for the addiction of drugs and alcohol are to not do them - do they have a sex rehab?? It sorta sounds funny but not really meant that way. How does one give up sex completely?? That would be a hard one.......WOW
I've actually done some of the "rehab" work. It's not about giving it up completely, it's about doing it with a pure mind. When you act and sound like Mike South apparently uses a females body as a "tool" to get off it begins to devalue the human body.

Thanks - I never completely understood that even when I studied it. There are varying opinions........

Really enjoying sex is just like really enjoying beer, it doesn't make you an alcoholic if you can just stop. The addiction is when you can't. When it interferes with your life, when it controls and consumes your life.
Discovery health did a show on sex addicts, the guy who did most of the explaining looked sorta like Dennis Leary slammed into Andy Dick.
Andy way. Sorry.
This guy was speaking frankly about his addiction, he would go to the park and "act out" with some homeless guy,. then go home and masturbate to some porn, then go pay a hooker this was all in the matter of hours. He does go into some detail on the treatment.
I highly recommend watching it, I think the title was something like "Addicted to sex", I'm sure the discovery site mentions it somewhere. Not so sure I'd google it, might want to go to discovery.com and search. If you're at work anyway.

Now, I know we writers need to make a living too, and sometimes, yes, we are paid on a per-word basis (isn't that silly?). That said, I can't resist what could and should have been the short and simple here - personal opinion, mind you.

1) The only issue I have with porn are those sick minds utilizing, illegally, underaged children for the images, and those willingly/knowingly viewing such images. They have problems that can not be resolved, just like sexual predators - not thru therapy, surgery or pharmaceutically. Such persons need to spend their lives behind bars (or give them the death option - I'm totally ok with that).

2) Adults, those who offer up their pornographic images (or actions), and those who view those images or actions, have done so, legally. It is as simple as that. And c'mon, women's bodies have been treated as the beautiful specimens they are since the beginning of man, and now, society is catching up to it with the same appreciation of the male specimen in many of the same ways. Works for me.

3) Addiction is addiction, and some, like my former chocolate addiction, wasn't in need of an intervention, however, if you are addicted to something that is affecting your ability to function on a day to day basis, maintain a job, costing you a fortune, etc., then clearly you need help.

What more possibly needs to be said?

Perhaps you'd have more success if you spent your time digging up personal information on posters to put up on the threads.

what is that about?

Interesting series of articles on a problem that's much underestimated.

I've had my own struggles with porn and know how things can get out of control. At the same time, like many of the commentors here, I believe in free speech and don't like to be preached to about what I should and shouldn't look at.

A great help for me was the porn addiction help book here - just common sense and didn't make me feel like a loser. Quitting the habit still required my own determination and resolve. It was a tough trip.
