City police say a Leola man twice tried to drive his car into a group of people Sunday night.
Drew Paige Losch, 43, of 9 Fairview Ave., Leola, then told police the reason why — he wanted to collect a debt.
Police said the incident occurred in the 900 block of East King Street at about 6 p.m. Sunday.
Losch drove his vehicle onto a sidewalk and then into a yard, "aiming at five people on the property causing them to move out of the way," police said.
Losch then drove back onto the street, turned around and again drove toward the group, police said. Apparently, no one was struck or hurt.
Losch then drove on North Broad and Chestnut streets, where police saw him driving swiftly and tailgating another vehicle, police said.
Losch was arrested in the 1400 block of Walnut Street. He told police a man owed him $50. Losch, who was already serving probation, said he would kill the man if he still had his gun or gun permit.
Newspaper records show Losch was charged with multiple charges including terroristic threats in February 2007.
A roommate of Losch at that time told police Losch had "threatened to kill him by cutting his head off with a hatchet."
