A sign malfunction on a city street resulted in a "hole" lot of trouble for a Mountville woman Monday morning.

Lancaster police said Susan Baker was driving her 2004 Chrysler Sebring east on West Vine Street when she entered a construction zone.

Workers from UGI and Miller Pipeline used a "Left Lane Closed" sign to block the street, covering it with a temporary "Road Closed" sign, which fell off before Baker approached the construction area, police said. Crews had just finished digging a hole in the westbound lane and had moved to the other side of the road when Baker proceeded through the block, police said.

Police said Baker told them she was driving slowly past the work crew and did not realize there was a hole in the street until her vehicle fell in.

Police said no charges will be filed for the incident.
