I can't speak for badminton, but horseshoe pitching is a sport that encourages participation from all generations as well as including men, women, juniors, and seniors. Our sport includes competitors from 7 to 80+ years old. Try pitching a few horseshoes 40', and see if you have the skill to land over 80% of shoes on the stake like some of the top pitchers in the world.

If you want to learn more about organized horseshoe pitching, or find a club in your area, please see the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association webpage at www.horseshoepitching.com

It was recently estimated that upwards of fifteen (15) million enthusiasts enjoy pitching horseshoes in the United States and Canada in tournaments, leagues, recreation areas and backyards.

The sport has been introduced in South Africa, Italy, Japan, Grand Bahama Islands, Togo, West Africa, Australia, New Zealand, West Germany, Nigeria, Honduras, Canada, South America, Israel, Norway, Switzerland, Poland, Phillipine Islands, England, Sweden, Finland and Russia.

You have to admit it's a step up from dwarf tossing.

My dad had quates rather than horseshoes. We played a lot over the summer. I never thought it was a "sport," just an outdoor game.

Interesting you mention that. The United States Quoiting Association is based on Pennsylvania as well. I know several competitive players who go to their competitions each year. Of course, I also consider Bowling to be a sport...
