Plans for a proposed 500,000-square-foot shopping center in East Cocalico Township will undergo debate again on Wednesday.

The township's board of supervisors will hold a conditional-use hearing at 7 p.m. in the Reamstown Fire Hall, 10-12 W. Church St., Reamstown, to discuss the proposed center, "Cocalico Commons."

The meeting will be a continuation of one that was held June 12.

Township supervisors declined to comment on the meeting because the hearing is in process.

The center, which, conditional on approval, would include a Giant Foods and a Lowe's home improvement store, would be built on 57 acres of land along Colonel Howard Boulevard and Lausch and Reamstown roads.

The project would be the third-largest shopping center in the county, behind only Park City Center and Rockvale Square. It would be fourth, however, if plans proceed for The Crossings, a 600,000-square-foot shopping center proposed along Harrisburg Pike in Manheim Township.

Of the contractors, the Florida-based Benderson Development Company Inc., receive conditional-use approval, they must also obtain approval of their preliminary and final land-development plans before beginning construction.
