Police followed a suspected stolen Jeep into the the city Tuesday night and arrested one of the fleeing occupants.

City police believe three people bolted from the Jeep, which officers found at about 9 p.m. in a park between Juniata and Dauphin streets.

Police saw a young male running near the vehicle. Officers gave pursuit and found the fleeing male, a city teenager, in the 100 block of Dauphin Street.

"He had become stuck between two fences," said Officer Adam Weber. "And he still had the keys to the Jeep in his hand."

The city officers turned the teen over to Manheim Township police.

Township police were still investigating the incident this morning. The Jeep was believed stolen from East Petersburg, where there have been other theft incidents, Sgt. Robert D. Baldwin noted.

On Monday night, thieves entered a 2005 Dodge Caravan in the 6400 block of Orange Street in East Petersburg and stole $20 cash and a $280 cell phone, police said.

The vehicle belonged to Clayton Risser. His employer, Dairy Advantage Inc. of Blue Bell, Montgomery County, owned the phone, police said.

Also on Monday night, Steven Armstrong had about about $15 in change stolen from two unlocked vehicles in the 1900 block of New Street in East Petersburg, police said.
