I had 4 family members get this call all within a 10 min time period, and all on their cell phones. They knew something was up because none had any accounts at BLC. My question is, how did they get the Cell phone numbers? Most of those are not listed and all of the people that i knew actually have land lines that are their primary number.

Couldn't they just take a cell exchange used here, like 471 or 575 something, and robocall all the numbers in it, whether they are in service or not? It's hit or miss, but you might get some bites...

I guess they could? I just thought it was strange that four family members with 4 differant numbers and exchange numbers all got called. But yeah with a computer who knows what they could do. I just usually think of Cell phones as safe from that sort of thing, as long as it isn't your primary number. But your right like we said, if you have one sucker that calls you back thats all you need, get a credit card in their name and your good to go.

They probably assume, too, that if you are contacted on a cell phone in the middle of whatever you are doing, you might be more likely to just answer their questions without thinking.

I got a weird text message on my cell phone a few days ago giving me an email address to contact the person at. I ignored it. Have no idea how they got my cell phone number or who they are. The message showed my cell phone number as the "from" number. Msg below:

"Hi. got your # from a friend but not sure its right. C if u recognize me online at friend-pit.com. name's sunflowerhippy there. Send me a msg there! "

Any techno wizards out there know of scams like this one?

My guess would be some type of porn site. Trying to get you to go on and sign up. I get emails like that at work every once in awhile. They are always trying to think of new ways to get people to click.
