Back to the topic -- and the question --

This is all about attention span. Every oil crisis becomes about PRICE instead of SUPPLY. If we had our own SUPPLY we would not be at the mercy of OPEC for the huge PRICE and their control of the spigot -- turn it down to a trickle, then hike the price.

Then we argue and argue and argue, cut back driving, and the price goes down because we have stopped buying so much, and everyone goes back to BUSINESS AS USUAL -- and we forget about drilling and finding out own sources, and we sit back until the next crisis.

If we had increased exploration, taken SERIOUSLY alternative sources in the early 1990s with the LAST CRISIS, we could thumb our noses at OPEC because we would already HAVE our own supply.

But because it won't lower prices THIS WEEK, and because it won't yield our own oil for a few years, the Dems and liberals poo-poo exploration and drilling because they only see TODAY -- they have no LONG-TERM VISION or plan.

Frustrating.

edit to spell correct ...

3-weeks later...

The U.S. has now had three consecutive weeks of daily gasoline price drops. Triple-A says the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is three-dollars-84-point-nine cents, more than 26 cents a gallon less than the record high set on July 17.

someone tell the republicans in the darkened house chamber...

then again...

maybe they like huddling in the shadows...

Did I not give you a simple, clear, direct answer to the same question when you asked?

Of course you did. It is like Jeapordy. You didn't give your answer in the form of a headline. So he didn't comprehend it.
