A Berks County man died Monday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a dump truck on Route 322 at the Route 222 southbound on-ramp in Ephrata Township, police said.
Jordan Horst, 25, of Sinking Springs, was taken to Lancaster General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Ephrata Police said the accident happened around 4:30 p.m. when Horst was eastbound on Route 322 with a truck that had turned left from Route 322 onto the Route 222 southbound on-ramp, according to Ephrata Police Sgt. Philip Snavely.
The dump truck driver was identified as James Ludwig, 39, of York Springs. Ludwig was not injured in the crash, police said.
Because the accident is still under investigation, Snavely said it is not known whether speed was a factor or if the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Anyone who witnessed the wreck is asked to contact Ephrata Police at 738-9200.
Ephrata police were assisted at the scene by Ephrata Ambulance, Pioneer Fire Department, Ephrata Medic 4, Ephrata Fire Police and East Cocalico police.
