As a` Philly boy I can remember when Ed Schokey "discovered" Bruce and began playing him heavily on 'MMR. Bruce stopped representing me around the same time he started chaerrging $250 to see his show. Who does he think he is - Sinatra??

Some what related, my wife and i traveled to Hershey to see John Fogerty perform, it was just about the fourth of July (give or take a few days) The crowd seemed to love him, until he announced they were going to play 'Fortunate Son' suddenly the crowd started to boo and I thought what the h*ll ...for the most part the thoughts and lyrics in that song were true (at least in my opinion) by the end of the song the people were standing and cheering and acting like they just met Barack Obama ( ).Go figure!
My major point is that Fogerty or CCR didn't had to rant between songs, their message was clearly conveyed thru their songs. U2 also comes to mind.

Springsteen....... There's another joke in the music industry. Why is it, the less talent a person has, the better they do in the entertainment industry ?
Bruce Springsteen cannot sing a lick, he really doesn't play guitar that well and covers it all up by playing so loud that you can't hear right for three days after you leave his concerts. The man has yet to record a song that would make me want to go out and buy one of his CDs.

Not that I'm jealous, but I sing a ton better than he and got noticed by a talent scout or 2 in my youth, but never made it into a recording studio.
There are many more no talent bands out there that are making tons of money, but I guess I'll never figure out why. Screaming into a microphone is not my idea of talent. I have a very diverse collection of music from all genres but Springsteen in not anywhere in that collection. Call me old fashioned but I'll buy a $300.00 ticket to a Harry Connick Jr. concert ten times over before I would pay even a dime to see Springsteen.

As far as the music industry goes, he's a waste of human flesh.

Of all the great armies of rock fans, few can match the devotion of Bruce Springsteen's. Anyone who has experienced Springsteen in concert will testify that the bond between audience and artist transcends the usual adulation. Something magical, almost mystical happens. Some might describe it as spiritual-most definitely it is life affirming. It is in trying to nail this phenomenon that the beautiful hardbound For You has arrived.
Edited by Lawrence Kirsch and replete with an amazing welter of outstanding photographs, it's a mind-blowing collection of thoughts and stories from fans of every age and many nations, each explaining why Springsteen occupies such an important place in their hearts. Covering all four decades of Springsteen's career it is possibly the ultimate fanzine for it is the fans who have made the journey and whose words tell us as much about them as they do about Springsteen. The warmth and humanity that flows from every page is truly moving and provides a beacon of hope from which we can all draw strength in these hard times. Not a book to be read at one sitting but rather to revisit and enjoy over time."

If more of his music was like this he would be easier to listen to for ninety minutes.
