An apparent electrical problem caused a fire in a home just outside of Strasburg on Tuesday afternoon.
A preliminary estimate set damage at $100,000 in the blaze at the home of Kenneth and Patricia Thompson, 408 Twin Elm Road, fire officials said.
There were no injuries.
It was reported just after noon, and drew some three dozen firefighters from Strasburg and nearby companies.
The residents weren't home at the time of the fire, but neighbors saw smoke and quickly called, Strasburg Fire Chief Rick Wentz said today.
While there's no final determination, initial reports are that the fire was electrical in nature and started in the kitchen area, perhaps above the stove or near the ceiling, Wentz said.
A state police fire marshal had been among those called to the scene Tuesday afternoon.
Along with Strasburg firefighters, volunteers from the Lampeter, Refton, Willow Street and Bird-in-Hand fire departments responded to the midday fire.
The two-story home on Twin Elm is in Strasburg Township, off of Bunker Hill Road just south of Strasburg Borough.
