Danville-based Geisinger Health Plan announced it has established a partnership with its fourth hospital in Lancaster County.
Ephrata Community Hospital has joined Geisinger Health Plan's network of participating hospitals and providers, both parties announced Thursday.
Lisa D. Hartman, GHP spokeswoman, said the partnership with Ephrata Community Hospital went into effect July 1.
Hartman said the insurer is working to contract with many of the 250 physicians in the Northern Lancaster Physician Hospital Alliance.
The hospital agreement is effective for three years. The contract applies to all GHP's product lines.
John Holmes, Ephrata Community Hospital's vice president for finance, said he's pleased with the arrangement with GHP.
"Our participation gives employers in northern Lancaster County another choice to better meet their employees' needs," Holmes said.
Founded in 1985, GHP serves more than 220,000 members in 42 counties throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania.
Hartman said GHP has had success marketing in Lancaster County and also has partnerships with Lancaster General Hospital (including Women & Babies), Lancaster Regional Medical Center and Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center."We have drawn interest from individuals and from small businesses," Hartman said.
"Now with Ephrata in our network, we believe we can be even more successful."
