A burglary suspect found all his exits blocked by Lancaster police this morning at a home in the 300 block of South Broad Street.
A neighbor called police after hearing the sound of breaking glass.
Kemuel Rosario-Gonzalez, 27,of 358 S. Broad St., was still inside the home when police cars pulled up at about 6 a.m., Officer Greg Berry said.
The home, at 356 S. Broad St., was unoccupied, but Rosario-Gonzalez apparently was aware that it contained furniture and other belongings, police said.
A window of a back door had been smashed, Berry said. Berry and Officer Chad Binderup took up positions in front of the home, and Officer Paul Blanchflower watched the back door. The officers also had brought dogs with them.
Rosario-Gonzalez had no escape route, police said.
"He looked out the front and saw us, (Berry and Binderup)," Berry. said. "He ran out the back door, and Paul got him."
The officers placed Rosario-Gonzalez in a patrol car and took him to police headquarters to face burglary charges.
On Sunday afternoon, a Manheim Township man stopped and subdued a burglary suspect, township police said.
Shortly before 3 p.m, Jimmy Rodriguez, 34, of the first block of East Liberty Street, spotted Christopher L. Wilbar, 49, of 217 Ice Ave., walking down an alley behind his home carrying what appeared to be Rodriguez's telescope, police said.
Rodriguez confronted Wilbar, who admitted that he had taken the telescope from a garage, Sgt. Thomas Rudzinski said.
Wilbar tried to leave when Rodriguez said he was calling police. The pair struggled. Rodriguez subdued Wilbar and yelled to his wife to call police, Rudzinski said.
Police said Wilbar was committed to Camp Hill state prison on an outstanding state parole warrant. Officer David Kantner is charging him with burglary, theft and disorderly conduct, Rudzinski said.
In other police incidents:
• Manheim Township police were at the East Petersburg Park shortly after 6 p.m. Monday to investigate a fight involving four males, one of whom had a wooden stick.
There were no injuries. Police said the fight stemmed from an incident at another location in Lancaster County, and the investigation continues.
• A 16-year-old Manheim Township boy has been charged with disorderly conduct from what looked to neighbors in the Kingspointe development near Lancaster Airport like an abduction Thursday afternoon.
The 16-year-old and others allegedly put a 16-year-old Manheim Township girl into the trunk of his car in the 300 block of Squire Lane and then drove around, police said.
The girl told police it was just a "prank with some friends," but worried residents notified police when they saw the girl being put in the trunk by a group of males. Numerous police officers and a state police helicopter searched the area for the car.
• Bradley Jonathan Newhouse, 23, of the 100 block of West Ferdinand Street, Manheim, has been charged with simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct, Northwest Regional police said.
A report of a disturbance sent Officer Daniel George to the 1800 block of Harrisburg Avenue, near Rheems, early Monday morning.
Newhouse allegedly had grabbed the steering wheel of a car being operated by a 27-year-old woman. The woman got out of the car, which belonged to her, and ran. Newhouse then drove off in the vehicle, police were told.
As the woman walked along the road to get help, Newhouse allegedly tackled her and began dragging her by the hair toward a cornfield.
The woman broke free from Newhouse and ran to a nearby home to get help. An ambulance crew treated her for multiple abrasions and cuts, police said.
Police arrested Newhouse at his home. He was committed to Lancaster County Prison after failing to post $25,000 bail set by Magisterial District Judge Jayne Duncan, Elizabethtown.
