A group showed up in East Petersburg Community Park on Monday night to settle an ongoing feud, Manheim Township police said.

A fight broke out shortly after 6 p.m  Some of the participants had baseball bats.

Justin Lee Eckman, 21, of 5710 Main St., East Petersburg, who was arrested late Tuesday morning, had a stick and chased after several people, swinging the stick at them, police said.

An East Petersburg park guard and a state constable witnessed Eckman's actions, police said. When Eckman tried to flee from the park, he struck the constable with his vehicle. Then he sped away in reverse on Pine Street, and his vehicle struck a sign, police said.

The constable was not hurt. Manheim Township police, who patrol East Petersburg, charged Eckman with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, and a hit-and-run violation.

Eckman failed to post $25,000 cash bail on the charges, which were filed by Officer Thomas Miles, and he was committed to Lancaster County Prison, police said.

Police are still investigating the fight and had no other suspects as of this morning, department spokesman Sgt. Thomas Rudzinski said.

This "so called" man used a gun to rob an unarmed 53 year old woman of a couple hundred bucks? Not that it's punishment enough but He gets up each morning and sees a piece of crap looking back at him in the mirror. Probably a customer of those murderous gangs running the drugs in Lancaster too.
Pay the money back, pal! Stop making excuses for your behavior and start earning everything you have and you'll feel better about yourself and life in general. Pulling a gun on a 53 year old woman. Sheeesh!

Man, I would love to know the story on whatever is going on in that park in E.Pete.

The bike, shirt, and dew-rag (to keep "dew" of your dome) are white, but the perp is clear, again. I know, it's the invisible man! Uh, no it's not. These lame descriptions are nearly useless. Gotta be PC though, more important than apprehending criminals.

You're insanely funny, man! Seriously, GP or somebody else in law enforcement: In describing this latest perp... Did the police withhold his race/skin color or did they furnish it and the paper withheld it? I'm dying to know because the community might be able to tip police if they only had the most comprehensive description available and I'd like to know where the ball is being dropped. Or do the police want to handle it all by themselves without the eyes and ears of the average citizen?

I'll tell you the problem with the EP Park....all of the thugs who aren't thuggish enough to hang out in Lancaster city because they'll be exposed for the chicken sh*t punks that they are, flock to EP....smaller town, easy for them to feel like they "own" it....I'm sure the police will be more than happy to remind them that they don't own anything...
