A group showed up in East Petersburg Community Park on Monday night to settle an ongoing feud, Manheim Township police said.
A fight broke out shortly after 6 p.m Some of the participants had baseball bats.
Justin Lee Eckman, 21, of 5710 Main St., East Petersburg, who was arrested late Tuesday morning, had a stick and chased after several people, swinging the stick at them, police said.
An East Petersburg park guard and a state constable witnessed Eckman's actions, police said. When Eckman tried to flee from the park, he struck the constable with his vehicle. Then he sped away in reverse on Pine Street, and his vehicle struck a sign, police said.
The constable was not hurt. Manheim Township police, who patrol East Petersburg, charged Eckman with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, and a hit-and-run violation.
Eckman failed to post $25,000 cash bail on the charges, which were filed by Officer Thomas Miles, and he was committed to Lancaster County Prison, police said.
Police are still investigating the fight and had no other suspects as of this morning, department spokesman Sgt. Thomas Rudzinski said.
