Irregardless of whose fault it is that Boscov's is sinking and sinking fast (and yes, greed is a major part!); it is offensive that these top executives receive "success pay". Success in what?? They've left the stores hanging, not sure of when or if any merchandise is coming in. Advertising goods that are not in the stores, haven't been for months and probably never will again. The workers have been told to "pull together", "ride it out," "we'll get through this"--yeah right! Meantime, there's no raises, not even the usual measly .15 that's so graciously handed out each year. These employees have all been put on hold, and when and if there is ever any money for raises, they won't be retroactive. So employees are being asked to work their tails off, accept their hours being cut, open those charges, and oh, by the way, you can't have a raise that you've been waiting for for a year. But we'll make sure we all line our pockets with a "success" bonus!

I hate to say it, but this is simple supply and demand. Boscov's cannot afford to lose the senior execs when going through a bankruptcy filing. These are the most important individuals in the company and need to be retained in to emerge stronger from the filing. The store level employee. Come on. You hate to see it happen, but these are minimum wage jobs and there are plenty of people willing to take them. Supply and demand.

I have to agree with PedroHead here. Reorganizing and emerging successfully from a bankruptcy is very complicated--people who haven't been there all along are in no position to make it happen. And if the whole place goes under, what happens to ALL the store employees?

My husband and transferred from Upstate NY when he got a promotion to take a job with the Danville,Va., store. Rumors were going around that the store was going to close, everyone was assured it was a rumor and all jobs were secure. We all know that was a lie. Other families also relocated here from NY and Pa. Due to the greed of the fat-cats 10 stores are closing and good people will soon be out of a job, no life insurance and no health insurance. I was upset when I heard that there will be no severance but I went into a rage when I heard the fat-cats wanted the bonus! Bonus for what? Sitting on the fat-cat ----- and letting eveyone else do the work? I also wrote a letter to the Judge handling this joke of a case, I do not know how good it will do, but I felt I had to write it. No severance pay is a joke and all the Boscovs people deserve it. Even two-weeks extra pay would be nice. My husbands severance would only be around $2000.00., let the company at least do that for these people. We also have custody of our grandchild who has autism, and the extra few dollars would have come in handy. Look at all the stuff going on on Wall Street, GREED and we have to pay for it. OK, can I use the Lear Jet for the weekend or how about a week at one of the fat-cat villas in the South of France? If I have to pay for their bull----, then I should be able to benefit from this. All I know is that we are all sick and tired of getting screwed and the fat cats getting whatever they want. I just wish that Al Boscov (who I heard is a nice man) would take into consideration a severance package for everyone or some other type of benefit. Even if I wanted to move back to NY I could not even afford it now. We left our family for a better life (we could not afford a home of our own in NY, here we have one); my husband will never get a job down here paying what Boscovs did and to get screwed out of a severance package on top of it all, well, isn't that the American way?

Those executives are not as responsible for the trouble Boscov's is in as it is the economy and competitive landscape. Most retailers are hurting and if not in bankruptcy ride very close to it.

Plus, they are only going to compensated for achieving some success that 'the workers' cannot do.

The employees of Boscov's can probably do a hell of a lot better then these incompetent CEO
