I find it extremely hard to believe that any Old Order Amish would participate in such a "worldly type" study. Usually they shy away from outsiders "poking" around their private lives and they run the other way. Was this something that was approved by the bishops??? Was there monetary compensation involved??? I'd really like to know what compelled them to allow themselves to be "monitored" and have blood samples drawn when they frown on things that can actually be beneficial such as immunizations for their children. And I'm wondering if the study has any real significance since I have seen plenty of "pleasantly plump" Amish in my travels across the county?!?!?!

The Amish actually are OK with research into their health. In addition to Holmes Morton's clinic in Strasburg that the Amish support bigtime, there is also an Amish Research Center or something to that effect in Greenfield.

And not all Amish refuse to immunize their kids. Just like all "English" won't agree to it.

So how much money did they spend on this study to conclude that physical activity makes people lose weight? Ridiculous.

A penny too much.

Get off your fat butt, and work out, and you will lose weight. Wow, amazing. Whats next, hit the gym, and one will discover they can build muscle?!? Wearing glasses can imrpove one's vision?!? Learning one's ABC's can give someone a better grasp of the English language?!?
