The subject was human, oh-so-cute and, apparently, oh-so-challenging. Only 40 readers submitted captions for the photo of baby Mazzy in a carrier on her mother's back.

We are publishing a portion of those funny lines today; samples from all contributors who followed our guidelines are on the Lancaster Newspapers Inc. Web site; visit
www.LancasterOnline.com.

This month's photo, shot by Sunday News photographer Jeff Ruppenthal, brings us back into the animal world; the picture shows young ducks cooling off in a baby pool at Cherry Crest Adventure Farm's Amazing Maize Maze in Paradise.

Guidelines:

Send an original, amusing caption to: LIVING@LNPNEWS.COM.

Please put this in the subject line of your e-mail: "Pass the Word" [Insert your last name].

You are also welcome to send a caption to us via the U.S. Postal Service: "Pass the Word," Living, Sunday News, P.O. Box 1328, Lancaster, PA 17608-1328.

We must receive your submission no later than Monday, Sept. 22.
