Carcass-disposal change sparks health concerns
Thousands of dead cows, horses to be buried on farms, or composted, rather than taken to rendering plant.

all i know is the crazy cat lady next door buries her dead in the garage when they die... i can't tell you how many bodies are out there but in the almost 9 years i've lived here there have been about 4 dogs and more than 20 cats come and go and she told me she just buries them in the garage. i hate the thought of what is happening in the house because she has never opened a window or pulled up a window shade in all that time either and the cats just keep breeding as far as i know. sorry, didn't mean to turn this in to a crazy cat lady story but everyone in the neighborhood is beginning to be affected by the umpteen cats she is collecting and letting breed (inner breed)

What about the fish that the Indians in Plymouth used to fertilize the corn? Remember that? Drop a fish in the hole with the corn kernel, and you'll have a much better crop.

Looks like we'll have 20 foot high corn stalks, tomat's up to 10 pounds each, and think of the mooing tobacco plants...

Never, ever eat anything she's had in her freezer.

I'm thinking more of the flies it will produce. Its bad enough now when they spread the fields with manure...which I know is benificial. I don't know, it seems better to just pay the rendering works to take care of the cows. How many cows can you bury anyway? Most of our local farms are less than 100 acres, take away space for buildings and crops...aren't you going to run out of room? I'm also picturing some developer trying to dig up an old farm site....bones everywhere!!!

What do you folks thinks happens to chickens at all these chicken farms? They gather up the dead and .....? Spread them on the field with the rest of the manure.

Groundwater contamination? The whole of Lancaster city's underground water has been declared unfit for human or ag purposes. Where's the outcry?

I get the impression that if the food stops being delivered at the grocery stores, for any reason, there's going to be a whole lot of instant vegetarians. And starvation.

Cows with mad cow should be disposed of by burning though, right?
