Winner on track
Jason Shaeffer, of Hatts Auto Repair, Mount Joy, got a ride to remember.
As one of five winners in the Federated Auto Parts' first "Get Dirty with Kenny" contest, Shaeffer was selected to spend the day dirt track racing with renowned NASCAR driver Ken Schrader, at Schrader's I-55 Raceway, in Pevely, Mo.
For auto-shop representatives to be eligible to win, the shop must have been enrolled as a Federated Car Care Center support program member in good standing, as of July 15.
CELEBRATION
Weekend for educators
Teachers, it's time for recess.
Borders and Waldenbooks stores in Lancaster and surrounding areas will celebrate Educator Appreciation Week through Sunday.
There will be special savings opportunities, in-store events and giveaways.
Retired and current educators, including teachers, librarians, professors, school administrators and guidance counselors, are welcome.

Road show appraisal
The Ephrata Elks, 170 Akron Road, will host an Antiques/Collectible Road Show, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.
Doors open at 8:30 a.m., and refreshments and food will be sold.
Appraisals for toys, jewelry, textiles, glassware, china and more will be conducted by Jamie Shearer, of Pook & Pook Inc., Downingtown.
Cost is $6 per item; $5 for each additional item.
Proceeds benefit the Elks' annual trade/technical school scholarships.

Wellness education
Lighten Up Lancaster County will present a wellness education summit, "Nutrition Wise and Exercise," 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, in the cafeteria at Hempfield High School, 200 Stanley Ave., Landisville.
