Manheim Township is going to the PIAA Girls' Tennis Team Tournament for the first time since 2002.

After capturing the L-L League title last week with a win over Hempfield, the Blue Streaks (12-0) continued their perfect season Friday with a 4-0 semifinal victory over Wilson, then topped Mechanicsburg, 4-1, to capture the District Three crown at Elco.

Caroline Barry and Alex Nana-Sinkam both recorded 6-0, 6-2 wins against Wilson, while both doubles teams — Devin Rivard and Emily Leslie at No. 1, Abby Belser and Emily Kager at No. 2 — added wins.

Their success continued in the championship match against Mechanicsburg when Barry won her match 6-2, 6-3, then Nana-Sinkam recorded a 6-0, 6-1 win. Rivard and Leslie posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Mechanicsburg's Kate Shankweiler and Ali Matisse, while Belser and Kager went on to a 6-0, 6-1 win.

The PIAA Team Tournament begins Oct. 21 at neutral sites, followed by play on Oct. 24 and 25 at the Hershey Raquet Club. The singles and doubles tournament will follow on Oct. 31 and Nov 1, also at the Hershey Raquet Club.
