I grew up Lanc City... I did witness a shooting I was 10 ...My mom told the police that I saw who shot the person.. The very next day and for weeks after police came to my house and even met me at school once, to re-tell my story..... My mother asked several times for a phone call so she could just bring me to the station... neverless the less, police officers came to my home to talk to me.. and I yes it was Lancaster City police... so tell me again how they protect identity's. I am wholly aware of who the shooter was.. what drug family he belongs to and that he is not walking the streets again after the shooting I witnessed.
Unless you give an anonymous tip.. which at that point the police can never really contact you again for more info....giving your name guarantee's that your name and information will be printed in the affidavit, criminal complaint, witness list, subpeona and any other document which has information that you provided....

Since you're coming from the "what's in it for me-entitlement" set That person that you help police in capturing may be the person who's gun ends one of your children's life the next day. So, if you don't make that call the day before, the next day your kid ends up dead. Ya know, aside from being a good-upstanding CONTRIBUTING member of society, it could actually save the life of someone you love.
