Pizzeria opening on King Street

Mamacita Pizzeria expects to open this week at 402 E. King St., the southeast corner of King and Plum streets.

The roughly 30-seat restaurant's menu will feature pizza shop classics — pizza, subs, burgers and cheesesteaks — but may expand to include Moroccan food and other dishes. It will offer take-out as well as delivery and has eight full- and part-time workers.

The restaurant has wireless Internet access, with electrical outlets at a five-seat counter where customers can plug in laptops.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The building housing the restaurant was purchased in 2002 by Tabor Community Services, which oversaw its renovation.

Brookstone at Park City

Brookstone, which sells a wide variety of items for personal care, home and auto, including many electronic gadgets, opened a temporary store at Park City Center last Friday.

The 2,457-square-foot store, in the Bon-Ton wing next to Bebe, will be open through the end of the year.
 

Rug shop closing

Lancaster Oriental Rugs, 2481 Lincoln Highway East, will close by mid-December. The store is shutting its door after some 28 years because of the poor economy, owner Kami Fereidooni said.

The 1,800-square-foot store is next to the Adidas outlet in the Quality Center at the northwest corner of Routes 30 and 896.

Hours: 10 a.m .to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
 

Downtown closings

Ron Kalwara closed his jewelry store at 114 N. Prince St. last month. Kalwara, who had operated the store for 38 years, said he is retiring.

Kalwara said he is moving out of the area and plans to spend time boating. His daughter, Pamela Petersheim, who had been his longtime business partner, plans to open her own jewelry store sometime somewhere, Kalwara said.

And Cherry Acres closed its store at 320 N. Queen St. last month after about a year at the spot. Cherry Acres, which specialized in furniture made from barn wood, maintains its much larger store in Lititz at 23 E. Main St.

Also, The Dude Shop, 336 N. Queen St., has closed. The roughly 400-square-foot men's clothing boutique opened in August 2007.
